The Lyall Family

Navel Oranges, Cara Cara Navel Oranges, Valencia Oranges

How we got here.

My grandfather moved to California in 1931 from Montana, where he was a cattle rancher. He was always looking for the next place to farm, and Pauma Valley reminded him of home. So they moved here full time in 1933, not knowing a thing about growing citrus. And my family’s been here, doing just that, ever since.

The next generation.

When our sons were growing up, we recognized that there’s no way that you can expect the next generation to have the same passion that we have about farming. But to see that passion develop in both the boys them has been a real blessing for us. They believe, as I do, that we can live here and enjoy the land, but that we are responsible also to take care of it.

What I love about being a Sunkist grower.

We enjoy the camaraderie that comes from being a citrus farmer in this community, but also that we are part of something bigger than just Pauma Valley. We’re all working together to produce the best quality fruit we can to help feed people around the world.
