How we got here.
Our family has been growing oranges in California since around 1911, beginning in Southern California on farms where Disneyland is today. My father visited Porterville with a friend in 1956, and decided to buy 20 acres of citrus, which we still own. We’re here at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains doing the same thing our forefathers did for generations.
The next generation.
My nephew Matt is working with me now, and he will continue the Laux tradition of citrus growing. He’s the fifth generation of our family, so hopefully someday we’ll be celebrating 200 years as California and Sunkist citrus growers in an orange grove that my father planted in 1956, and that he’s passed down to us.
What I love about being a Sunkist grower.
My first love is growing things, but it’s also really fun to share what we do with others. If you take an orange fresh off the tree and cut it for someone to eat, with its wonderful aroma and taste, that’s just indescribable. I’m here to help share that experience with the rest of the world.
