How we got here.

My father had a friend from Ventura County who was a lemon grower, so they came down to Arizona in the late ’40s to plant citrus and open a nursery. He acquired his acreage by trading trees for land in the early ’50s. Growing up, I remember watching my dad do a lot of the work in the orchards himself, and we learned by watching.

The next generation.

I used to argue with my father, even when I knew he was right. It might’ve taken me a week or a year to figure it out, but for some reason he was always right. Same with my son now – I’ll listen to his side to be fair, but I’m going to do what I think is right. Hopefully he realizes I’m usually right, just like my dad was.

What I love about being a Sunkist grower.

My father loved the lifestyle of being a farmer and, now, all 12 of his kids do, too. We love being with family, and we take a lot of pride in growing quality lemons.
